What operating systems are supported?
The app is a Windows desktop application (Windows 10 / 11). macOS and Linux builds are planned after launch.
Do I need an expensive GPU?
No. NVIDIA NVENC, AMD AMF and Intel QSV all accelerate rendering when present. If you have no GPU, FFmpeg falls back to CPU x264. Any modern laptop can produce shorts — it's just faster with a GPU.
Where is my video processed?
Entirely on your own computer. The source video, transcription and rendered output never leave your PC. Only the finished MP4 clips you explicitly choose to publish are uploaded — and those are auto-deleted from our backend within 24 hours.
What platforms can I publish to?
YouTube Shorts, TikTok and Facebook Pages, all via official OAuth. You can publish immediately or schedule posts to fire at a future time — even when your PC is turned off.
Does it work with podcasts, webinars and interviews?
Yes — those are exactly the use cases we built it for. Talking-head content (podcasts, interviews, webinars, sermons, lectures, monologues, vlogs) transcribes cleanly and produces the best clips.
How long does it take to clip a video?
A 30-minute podcast typically takes 5–10 minutes to transcribe on an average GPU, plus another 2–4 minutes per rendered short. Total wall-clock time is usually well under an hour for 10 shorts.
Can I edit the clips after the AI picks them?
Yes. Every clip is editable — change the hook title, tweak the start/end, override caption style, lock face-crop mode, swap aspect ratios, and re-render selectively.
Is there a watermark?
No watermark, ever. Rendered clips contain only your video, captions and optional hook title.
Will Essence Cut AI ever charge money?
The core desktop app is free and intended to stay that way. Optional paid cloud-hosting upgrades may appear later for users who want more than 24 h of server-side clip storage or higher publishing throughput.
