1. About this app

Essence Cut AI ("the app", "the Service", "we", "us") is a desktop application for content creators that helps users turn long videos into short clips and publish them to their own social-media accounts. The app runs on each user's own Windows computer and is supported by a small backend service operated by us at essencecutai.online.

2. Who this policy applies to

This Privacy Policy applies to every person who installs and uses the app. Each user connects their own social-media accounts (TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook) through the official OAuth authorization flow of each platform. The app only ever accesses accounts that a user has explicitly connected.

3. Data the app and the backend handle

  • Source videos — kept exclusively on the user's own computer. They are never uploaded to a server operated by us or by any third party.
  • Rendered short clips — when a user chooses to publish a clip, the rendered MP4 is temporarily uploaded to our backend at upload.essencecutai.online so that it can be forwarded to the social platform the user selected. The clip file is automatically deleted from our server within 24 hours of upload, whether the publish step succeeded or not.
  • OAuth access & refresh tokens issued by TikTok, YouTube (Google) and Meta (Facebook / Instagram) when a user connects their own accounts. Tokens are stored in our backend database, encrypted at rest, and are used exclusively to publish content the user explicitly chooses to upload, and to display the connected account's name and avatar inside the app.
  • Basic profile information returned by each platform during the OAuth flow (display name, avatar URL, platform account ID) — used only to label the connected account inside the app's interface.

4. Data sent to third parties

The app communicates only with the official APIs of the platforms a user has chosen to connect:

  • TikTok — to authenticate the user and upload videos to the user's own TikTok account (scopes: user.info.basic, video.publish, video.upload).
  • Meta (Facebook & Instagram) — to authenticate the user and publish to the user's own Facebook Pages and Instagram professional accounts (permissions: pages_show_list, pages_manage_posts, pages_read_engagement, instagram_basic, instagram_content_publish).
  • YouTube (Google) — to authenticate the user and upload videos to the user's own YouTube channel (scopes: https://www.googleapis.com/auth/youtube.upload, https://www.googleapis.com/auth/youtube.readonly).

The app does not embed any third-party AI API. Clip suggestions are produced by the user themselves: the app gives the user a text prompt to copy, the user pastes that prompt into the AI chat tool of their choice (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, …) outside of the app, and then pastes the resulting JSON back into the app. No video content or user data is ever sent to an AI provider by the app.

No data is sold or shared with any other third party, no analytics service is embedded in the app, and no advertising SDK is used.

5. Google API Services User Data Policy (YouTube)

Essence Cut AI's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:

  • We only request the YouTube scopes that are strictly required to upload videos to the user's own channel on the user's behalf.
  • YouTube data is used exclusively to provide and improve the user-facing video-publishing feature; it is never used for advertising, sold, or transferred to third parties for unrelated purposes.
  • No human at Essence Cut AI reads YouTube user data except where explicitly required to debug a problem reported by the user, or to comply with applicable law.
  • Use of YouTube features in the app is also subject to the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.
  • A user can revoke Essence Cut AI's access to their Google / YouTube account at any time at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions.

6. TikTok data

Essence Cut AI accesses TikTok only through TikTok's official Login Kit and Content Posting API. We access the public profile information of the user (display name, avatar, open ID) for the sole purpose of labeling the connected account inside the app, and we use the upload scopes only to publish content the user explicitly chooses to send. A user can revoke our access at any time from their TikTok account settings under Manage app permissions.

7. Meta (Facebook & Instagram) data

Essence Cut AI uses Meta's Graph API to publish to Facebook Pages and Instagram professional accounts the user has chosen to link. We request only the permissions required to list a user's Pages and Instagram accounts and to publish content on the user's behalf. A user can revoke our access at any time from Facebook Settings → Business Integrations.

8. Data retention & deletion

Connected-account tokens are retained for as long as the user keeps the corresponding account connected inside the app. Disconnecting an account from the app's "Social Accounts" panel immediately deletes the associated tokens and profile metadata from our backend database. Rendered clip files uploaded to our backend for publishing are automatically deleted within 24 hours. Deleting a project from the app also immediately removes any clip files associated with that project from our backend, even if the 24-hour window has not yet elapsed.

To request deletion of any remaining personal data associated with an account, email faressmounir92@gmail.com from the address linked to that account. We will action the request within 30 days.

9. Security

All communication between the desktop app, our backend and the third-party APIs is performed over HTTPS. OAuth tokens are stored encrypted at rest in our backend database, and access to the backend is restricted by authenticated API keys. The app's local backend on the user's machine listens only on 127.0.0.1 and is not exposed to the public internet.

10. Children's privacy

The app is intended for users who meet the minimum age requirements of the social platforms they connect (typically 13+ or 16+ depending on jurisdiction). It is not directed at children under the age required by those platforms.

11. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated to reflect changes in the way the app handles data. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page will always reflect the most recent revision. Material changes will be announced in-app on the next launch.
